EHS Tier 2
Tier 2
What is tier 2 support?
Tier 2 practices and systems provide targeted support for students who are not successful with tier 1 supports alone. The focus is on supporting students with a common skill need who are at risk for developing more serious academic, behavioral, social and emotional needs. Specific tier 2 interventions include practices such as social skills groups, behavior and academic supports. Please refer to the Eastside High School Tier 2 Menu of Student Supports for more detailed information on each of the supports offered at EHS.
Tier 2 interventions are often provided outside of the classroom by a wide variety of EHS staff and external community partners in the form of small student groups. These interventions occur about 1-2 times per week and are often short-term (about 8 weeks). The students are progress monitored to see how they are responding to the intervention. Please refer to the EHS MTSS Tier 2 Support Group Process for more detailed information on how the process works at EHS.
Targeted interventions, when implemented with fidelity, are likely to demonstrate positive effects especially when they are in alignment with core instruction. Teams responsible for this level of support at Eastside High School are the EHS MTSS Tier 2 Team, the EHS Counseling Team, EHS Educational Social Workers, EHS Attendance Team, and other external community partners. EHS Tier 2 teams monitor student progress in each intervention to decide if the intervention should be scaled up or down for individual students.
